Equipment

Ingredients

  • 4 medium-sized Apples such as Honeycrisp or Granny Smith
  • 2 tablespoons Brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon Ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup Walnuts or pecans, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
  • Optional: Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for serving

Method

  • Begin by washing the apples and removing the core using a spoon or apple corer, creating a small well in the center of each apple.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine brown sugar, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, and chopped nuts. Mix well.
  • Stuff each apple with the sugar and nut mixture, pressing down gently to pack the filling.
  • Place a small piece of butter on top of the filling in each apple.
  • Preheat the air fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  • Place the stuffed apples in the air fryer basket, ensuring they are not touching.
  • Cook for 15-20 minutes or until the apples are tender and the filling is bubbly. Check for doneness by inserting a knife into the apple; it should slide in easily.
  • Carefully remove the apples from the air fryer and let them cool for a few minutes.
Chefs Tips
  • Choose firm apples for this recipe as they hold their shape better during cooking.
  • For an extra touch of sweetness, drizzle the baked apples with caramel sauce or honey before serving.
  • Add some rolled oats to the filling mixture if you prefer a crunchier texture.
  • Keep a space between the apples in the air fryer for even cooking.
