Equipment

Ingredients

  • 1 package Ready-made pie crust, or homemade if you’re feeling fancy
  • 1 cup Mixed berries, blueberries, raspberries, strawberries – the berry-er, the better!
  • 1/4 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Cornstarch
  • 1 Egg, for egg wash
  • 1 tablespoon Water, for egg wash
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting, optional

Method

  • Start by laying out your pie crust and using a cookie cutter or knife to cut out your desired pop tart shape. Remember, perfection is overrated; rustic is in!
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the mixed berries, granulated sugar, and cornstarch. Give it a good mix until the berries are well-coated.
  • Place a spoonful of the berry mixture in the center of half of your cut-out pie crusts.
  • Cover each filled crust with another piece of crust. Use a fork to press and seal the edges. This also gives it that classic pop tart look!
  • Whisk together the egg and water to create an egg wash. Brush this over the top of each pop tart.
  • Place the pop tarts in the air fryer, ensuring they don’t overlap. Cook at 375°F (190°C) for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Once done, let them cool slightly and dust with powdered sugar if desired.
Chefs Tips
  1. Feel free to experiment with different fillings. Nutella, jam, or even savory fillings can make for a delightful twist.
  2. Keep an eye on your pop tarts in the air fryer. They can go from perfectly golden to “extra crispy” in a flash.
  3. Ensure the edges are sealed well to prevent any berry leakage. No one likes a messy tart!
