Ninja Air Fryer Recipes: 9 Of The Best

Published by: Chef Braam Botha • Updated: January 25, 2024 • Checked By: Chef Matty Riedel

By now, I’m sure everyone (most people, at least) has realized that the air fryer is not just a fad that is going somewhere anytime soon. The simplicity of an air fryer attracts me; you can cook dinner without having to keep a constant eye on the stove! Most people are blinded by a few simple things they can make in their air fryers, such as chips & nuggets, while others are amazed that you can cook a steak. As much as I appreciate this, I am stunned that people don’t use their air fryers to experiment a little more. — I have experimented, so you don’t have to. Here are 9 Unforgettable Ninja Air Fryer Recipes.

9 Unforgettable Ninja Air Fryer Recipes

1. Air Fryer Crispy Chickpeas

ninja air fryer recipes

The below is more of a guideline than it is a recipe. Depending on how many people you are, you can adjust the number of chickpeas and season according to your preference. Please don’t hesitate to play with different spices to find your favourite seasoning for this deliciously healthy treat!

Serves: 3-4
Prep Time: 2 minutes
Cook Time: 15-20 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 can Chickpeas
  • Olive Oil
  • Salt
  • Chili powder
  • Za’atar (Thyme, Cumin, Coriander, Sesame Seeds, Sumac, Chili flakes)

Method

  1. Drain and rinse the chickpeas, put them on a paper towel, and leave them to dry for about 10 minutes.
  2. Transfer the chickpeas to a bowl, drizzle with oil and add spices. Shake until evenly distributed.
  3. Transfer to the air fryer basket, set to 200°C for 12-15 minutes (keep an eye on them for about 12 minutes)
  4. Enjoy!

2. Air Fryer Bacon-Wrapped Jalapeno Poppers

ninja air fryer recipes

Everybody loves a good Jalapeno Popper. Although getting the batter right could be challenging, I’ve found an easier (and tastier) way!

Serves: 4
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 15-20 minutes

Ingredients

  • 8 Pickled Whole Jalapenos (fresh will work as well)
  • 200g Cream Cheese
  • 5g Fresh Chives
  • 2g Garlic Powder
  • 8 Strips Streaky Bacon
  • Salt & Pepper

Method

  1. Cut a small incision along the length of each Jalapeno. With a small teaspoon, remove the seeds.
  2. Add Cream Cheese, Chives, Garlic Powder, Salt & Pepper in a small mixing bowl. You can add any herbs or spices that you like. Mix through until combined.
  3. Fill each Jalapeno with the Cream Cheese mixture. Do not overfill the Jalapenos, but make sure they are filled.
  4. Carefully wrap each stuffed Jalapeno with a slice of bacon. If necessary, you can use a toothpick to keep them in place.
  5. Place the stuffed Jalapenos in the air fryer with the incision facing up. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until browned.
  6. Serve with a dipping sauce of your choice. Enjoy!

ninja air fryer recipes

This onion snack tastes fantastic and is visually appealing and relatively easy to make.

Cook Time: 15 Minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 Tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1 Large White Onion
  • ¼ Cup Milk
  • 2 Large Eggs
  • ½ Cup Whole Wheat Flour

  5. Starting 1cm from the root, cut downward, all the way to the cutting board. Repeat to make four evenly spaced cuts around the onion while keeping it intact.
  6. Continue slicing between each section until you’ve made eight cuts in total.
  7. Place the onion in ice water for at least 2 hours. Remove from water, pat dry and open the onion to expose the ‘petals’.
  8. Sprinkle generously with the flour mixture, ensuring all the nooks and crannies are filled. Turn upside down to shake out any excess flour.
  9. Spoon over the egg mixture, ensuring that all the crevices are filled. Lift the onion to remove any excess egg.
  10. Sprinkle onion generously with the breadcrumb mixture and press it into place.
  11. Place the prepped onion in the air fryer basket and place a foil dome over the onion to protect it from direct heat.
  12. Set the temperature to 180°C and Air Fry for 15 minutes.
  13. Check if the onion is crispy. If not, return it until the desired crispness has been achieved.
