Ninja Air Fryer Review & Buyer’s Guide

At first, I was quite sceptical about the idea of an air fryer, I mean it is essentially a glorified hairdryer in a box. And before I even knew it I was hooked! I started making anything and everything in my air fryer, from chips and nuggets to whole chickens and bacon-wrapped chilli poppers. After realizing that an air fryer is an essential tool in every home cooks' kitchen, I have become an air fryer evangelist! I would urge every person to consider buying an air fryer, therefore here is our Ninja Air Fryer Review.

Ninja Air Fryer Review

Ninja Foodi Dual Zone Air Fryer [AF300UK] 2 Drawers, 6 Cooking Functions, 7.6L, Black

The biggest issue regarding an air fryer I always faced was the fact that I wish I had 2 of them. But even if I had 2 I would still complain about it taking too much space. In comes the Ninja to change the game and answer my prayers! This double compartment air fryer allows you to not only cook in 2 different compartments, it even lets you adjust the cooking temperature in each compartment!

Ninja offers two different sizes of this machine, 7.6 litres or  9.5 litres. If you go for the 7.6-litre fryer, I can guarantee that you will love it and will eventually upgrade to the 9.5-litre machine. Just start off with the real deal!

This machine is quite large and heavy, ensure that you have sufficient counter space available in your kitchen because you will not want to pack it away after each use!

  • 2 Independent cooking chambers
  • Temperature control in both chambers
  • Easy to clean
  • No pre-heating
  • 6 Built-in cooking functions

  • Can't fit a whole chicken
  • Large & heavy
  • Pricey, but worth it!

Features And Benefits

This machine offers what Ninja calls the ‘Smart Finish' — and oh' boy, is it smart! The smart finish feature lets you set the cooking times for each chamber independently, all you then have to do is press a button and forget about the food. This feature will then have both sides ready to plate AT THE SAME TIME.

A real-life example will probably solidify what I am trying to explain; If you are making chicken nuggets and chips, you've got chicken nuggets on one side and chips on the other. The nuggets will take 20 minutes and the chips will take 30 minutes. Now instead of starting with the chips, set a timer on your phone so you don't forget to add the nuggets at the right time and then hopefully time it correctly so both items are done at the same time. All you have to do is add both items into their respective chambers, set their cooking times and the Ninja will have them both ready at the exact same time. If for some or other reason, dinner is delayed you can simply switch it to keep warm mode until you are ready to serve.

Ninja Foodi Dual Zone Air Fryer [AF300UK] 2 Drawers, 6 Cooking Functions, 7.6L, Black

This machine offers a myriad of different pre-set cooking functions, some of which are quite simple and some of them get quite complex. I would recommend anyone who buys this machine to really dive into the user manual and unlock all the marvellous features this machine has to offer. These built-in programmes include roasting, baking, re-heating (perfect for leftovers), crisping and my favourite; dehydrating!

Best Used For?

Gone are the days of leftover chips being sacrificed to the rubbish! Gone are the days of takeaway chips becoming stale out of the 5-minute window of perfection! If this is the only reason you buy an air fryer then you will have received your money's worth. I've always made peace with the fact that once a chip has passed the window of perfection it becomes unsalvageable. The only way of successfully reheating leftover or takeaway chips is a good blast in an air fryer.

Besides reheating chips, the air fryer is amazing in cooking any crumbed dishes like chicken nuggets, schnitzels or even crumbed mushrooms. For those days you find yourself not wanting to make any effort, the air fryer is amazingly effortless.

I enjoy cooking sausages, bacon and ‘fried tomatoes' in my Ninja for breakfast. Throw a slice of bread in the toaster and 2 eggs in some boiling water and you truly have the worlds' best effortless breakfast!

Another one of my favourite things to make in an air fryer is a whole chicken, which is unfortunately not possible in the Ninja air fryer. The only let down I can think of with this machine is the fact that the two cooking chambers result in smaller individual baskets.

Reasons To Buy

Despite all the different functions, buttons and settings, the Ninja air fryer is surprisingly easy to operate. It offers a variety of settings which you can adapt to your needs and above all it makes cooking an effortless joy!

This machine is easy to clean, reliable and will reduce the dirty dishes you make by at least half! If that does not sell you on investing in an air fryer, I don't know what will.

Do I Need To Remove The Rubber Edges From The Corners Of The Crisper?

No, these rubber edges are heat resistant and ensure that you do not scratch any surfaces with exposed metal.

Where Can I Find Recipes To Make In My Ninja Air Fryer?

How Do I Clean My Ninja Air Fryer?

Always start by unplugging the unit, safety first! Ensure that the machine has cooled off completely so you don't burn yourself!

Remove the dual baskets and soak them in warm soapy water for at least 10 minutes. While these are getting their soak on, you can head on over to the main unit.

Please remember that the main unit of this machine is an electrical appliance, soaking this machine in water will result in humiliation!

Turn the machine upside down, and clean with a soft damp cloth, ensure you reach all the nooks and crannies and wipe down that COOLED DOWN element. Wipe down the exterior with a soapy cloth, then again with a clean cloth. Leave to dry before plugging it into a power source.

Return to the bathing baskets and clean with warm soapy water, alternatively place them in the dishwasher.

Never use abrasive materials or brushes while cleaning this machine.

How Often Should I Clean My Ninja Air Fryer?

As with any kitchen appliance, this machine has to be cleaned after every use. Although you don't have to deep clean the entire main unit after each use, you definitely have to clean the cooking baskets, especially after cooking meat. When cooking meat, fat tends to seep out of the meat and collects in the basket. If not cleaned, these fat drippings may become rancid.

Can I Use Foil In My Ninja Air Fryer?

Abso-friggin-lutely! Unlike a microwave, this machine works by blowing really hot air around. There is nothing that will react with the foil, just ensure that the foil doesn't get caught in the fan and I'm sure your kitchen won't set alight.

Can I Cook A Stew In My Ninja Air Fryer?

If you really want to, be my guest. However, my conscience got the better of me. Please do not try to cook anything with liquids in your air fryer.

How Do I Turn Off The Annoying Beeping Sound?

There is nothing more irritating than constant unsolicited beeping sounds, therefore follow this and thank me later! Hold down the minus temperature and minus time buttons down for 3 seconds while it's not running. You'll hear a beep, release the buttons and enjoy the silence!

Can The Ninja Air Fryer Replace My Microwave?

Depending on your microwave usage, the Ninja will not be able to do exactly what your microwave does. However, I hate microwaves (unless you have a really good one). So in my honest opinion, YES throw that microwave away!

Does The Ninja Air Fryer Have A Drip Tray?

In essence, yes. The baskets do have an elevated platform with holes to let food drippings through. The drippings are then caught in the bottom of the basket. Be sure to give the baskets a good clean after every use.

Ninja Air Fryer Review: Summing Up

An air fryer is an amazing asset to any home cooks' kitchen. Be it for quickly whipping up effortless meals or cooking snacks in a flash, a good air fryer is a must in any modern household. I absolutely love the Ninja air fryer, the fact that I can insert two different items into the machine, set their respective cooking times and have both items ready at the same time is a complete game changer! Although this machine is a little on the pricey side, I do consider it more than worth it! The amount of effort this machine has saved me has definitely made up for the cost!
