Nutribullet Blender Review & Buyer’s Guide
Nutribullet has adopted a major marketing drive behind nutrition and wellness and how their blender could completely change your life by making you healthier. I would not go so far as to say that this machine will single-handedly make you healthier, I mean if you are a lazy slob pounding away 4 smoothies while still garbling up a few burgers throughout the day, this machine will definitely not make you healthier.
That being said, the booklets they have included in the box is a great source of nutritional information and guides on healthy living. If you truly work through the guide and correctly implement their recommendations, you might just be able to become healthier.

Nutribullet Blender: Features & Benefits
The 600-watt Nutribullet is the original blender in the Nutribullet range and is made up of 5 pieces. The powerful 600-watt motor is built into the base unit, this powerful high torque motor turns the blades at a whopping 20000 RPM. With the blade spinning at such a high speed it breaks down everything in its path providing you with a deliciously pulp-free smoothie. Nutribullet has included one blade attachment for this machine, a lot of people complain about the fact that this machine only provides one blender setting and that this problem could have been resolved by adding another blade attachment, I do not agree. This machine was made for making smoothies, sauces and pesto’s. If you are looking to liquidise beetroots or blend soup in large quantities, then you should not be opting for a personal single-serve blender. Unless you are happy with blending a few batches at a time when making large amounts of soup, this machine will not make the cut as the only cup attachment that is included has a capacity of 680ml.
As advertised, this box has 5 items in it, why they would include 2 booklets as part of the 5 pieces only they would know. I believe this might be a marketing ploy. The quick start guide is nothing more than a user manual, obviously an item essential to any purchase but I believe it is a bit of an overreach counting this as part of the 5 piece set. Another little booklet they have included under the auspice that this is a 5 piece set, would be the pocket nutritionist, although way handier than the quick start guide it should still not be counted as a piece of the set. However, let’s talk about this pocket nutritionist for a second.
The pocket nutritionist is actually quite a cool booklet, it contains a lot of recipes for making smoothies, tips on how to use the machine to get the most out of your blender, nutrition advice and instructions on different blending techniques and what they do. I usually throw these types of booklets away even before unboxing the product but this one is quite handy to keep around as a quick reference guide for inspiration on what to make. It also includes a lot of information on awesome ingredients you can include in your smoothies that one tends to forget about like Chia Seeds, Cacao Nibs, Goji Berries etc.
Nutrient Extraction
The blade of this machine is specifically designed to break down the cell walls of food to open up the most nutrient-dense smoothies possible. – or so they say… It is cool though, by making smoothies through extraction you get the health benefits of eating the entire fruit or vegetable and not throwing out stems and seeds, you waste nothing and gain the nutrients from the parts you would normally throw out. The immense power this machine packs, shreds tough skins, cracks through strong stems and busts open seeds to ensure you get the most out of your ingredients.
Sleek And Compact Design
Now I know there are a lot of compact blenders out there, but this is one that you really would not mind standing in a corner on the kitchen shelf. The Nutribullet does not take up a lot of space, in fact since I don’t have to pack up my blender, to save counter space, after every use I have started using it far more than I have ever done in the past. I’ve started making my own mayonnaise, pesto’s and marinades just because this machine is always on my counter and very easy to use and clean.
Super Easy To Use
This might sound like a very basic thing to list under features and benefits but to give you an idea, I’ve had a pressure cooker for the past few years which to this day I have absolutely no idea how to operate. It was a hand me down appliance that came without an instruction manual. This pressure cooker looks so easy to use with a few pre-set buttons on the front but is so over-engineered that I have not been able to figure out how it works in about 4 years. For this reason, I have listed Easy To Use under the features and benefits section as this machine only has one, speed setting. All you have to do is fill the cup with your ingredients, attach it to the base unit, press and hold the ONE button there is on the machine! I don’t think it could be any more elementary than that.
Easy Cleaning
The Nutribullet is probably one of the easiest appliances to clean. The cup in which you will blend your smoothie or pesto is detachable from the rest of the unit, the blade lid is then attached to the top of the cup, turned upside down and then attached to the base unit. Once you have blended your ingredients, the cup detaches from the base unit, flipped right side up again and then you remove the blade lid attachment. Rinse the blade attachment and add the drinking lid to the cup, enjoy your smoothie and wash the cup… As simple as that! On top of all this, the cup attachment is dishwasher safe. Now I also have to add that any plastic item will over time fade if you clean it in the dishwasher and might eventually start cracking. I have adopted a policy in my kitchen that no appliance parts nor any cookware may be washed using a dishwasher. This is one of the metrics I have in place to care for all my essential items in the kitchen.
Best Used For?
The blade attachment for the Nutribullet has been specifically engineered to crush and blend almost anything in its path. The powerful motor spins the blades at 20000 RPM, crushing seeds, chopping fibres, and extracting all the nutrients out of your ingredients, leaving you with a smooth and pulp-free end product.
I have made nut butter quite effortlessly using my Nutribullet, compared to most personal blenders, this one did not seize up due to the thick consistency of the butter. It goes without saying that if this machine can churn through nut butter it can effortlessly blend through fruit, veggies, nuts, and most grains.
If you are also on the almond milk craze like most hipsters today, I have done an experiment that will convince you that the Nutribullet is for you. Most blenders don’t blend fast enough and don’t grind fine enough to make proper silky-smooth Almond milk. I was able to make decadently smooth almond butter using the Nutribullet, have a look at my DIY Almond Milk recipe (and more recipes for the Nutribullet) here.
The most common use for the Nutribullet would be to make smoothies, almost every person I know who owns a Nutribullet has only ever made smoothies in it. It just does such a good job with smoothies that Nutribullet has become a household name for smoothie makers.
As a chef, I cannot help but hold people, who have store-bought salad dressings in their fridge, in disdain. This might sound snobbish, but it is one of the simplest things to make and experiment with. The options are endless, you could make passionfruit or pomegranate salad dressings or even go a bit weirder and create a basil and chia seed dressing. If this is possible, why do people always have the same terrible, preservative infested *insert brand name* ‘Italian or Ranch dressing’ sauces in their fridges? How are they not concerned about the fact that this item can stand on a shelf at room temperature for months without going off… What are in all of those preservatives? This is why I make a different salad dressing every night, it is super easy in the Nutribullet, plus I get to experiment with weird and wonderful combinations.

Frequently Asked Questions
How Do I Care For & Clean My Nutribullet?
The cups and lids are dishwasher safe; the manufacturer recommends washing them on the top rack of the dishwasher — as if there is a difference. I would recommend that you wash these by hand. Simply rinse under warm running water, wiping away any foods that stick then immediately dry with a cloth.
Do not submerge the base unit or the blade attachments underwater, rinse the blade attachment under running water then dry it immediately. You can wipe down the base unit with a damp cloth.
Depending on how frequently you use your Nutribullet and how strenuous the tasks you give it, you might need to replace the extractor blades every 10 months to a year.
CAUTION: Do not run the Power Base more than 1 minute per interval. Do not run the Power Base for more than three 1-minute intervals without allowing it to cool for 2-3 minutes after the third extraction. Running the motor for more than 1 minute consecutively in any interval may result in permanent damage to the Power Base.
Can You Blend Ingredients Without Adding Liquid?
Yes, as long as the ingredients are not fully frozen you will not have to add liquid to be able to blend. Because of the conical shape of the cup, frozen items do not fall all the way down to the blade thus preventing it from blending. The liquid generally helps melt the frozen ingredients enough to not get stuck.
Can You Grind Nuts & Seeds With The Nutribullet?
Absolutely yes! Although some of the Nutribullet models are not suitable for grinding dry ingredients, the 600watt Nutribullet does an incredible job milling nuts and seeds. Taking it a step further this machine did an astounding job in making nut butter and almond milk, which is much more than I could say of most blenders.
Can You Make Juice In A Nutribullet?
Not in this model, however, Nutribullet does have another machine specifically made for juicing fruits and veggies, called the Nutribullet Juicer 700. When looking at the Nutribullet juicer just keep in mind that they do not work like a traditional juicer in which the juice is extracted, and the pulp is discarded. In these machines, the entire fruit is liquidised and includes the pulp.
Is This Machine Capable Of Blending Hot Liquids?
I am sure that you will be able to blend hot liquids once, maybe even twice. But this machine was not made to handle hot liquids, the rubber seals around the edges of the blending cup will over time deteriorate if exposed to high temperatures. For this same reason, I would highly recommend that you not wash any parts of this machine in a dishwasher — don’t be lazy!
What Should I Do If My Ingredients Are Not Blending?
Usually, when blenders struggle to blend through ingredients it is because the ingredients get stuck, and the blades cannot reach them. This mostly happens to solidly frozen ingredients to which I would just add some liquid and give it a good shake. If you don’t wish to add liquid, simply shake or rearrange the ingredients in the cup.
Nutribullet Blender Review: Summing Up
This is the perfect machine for anyone who is looking for a powerful and compact personal blender without breaking the bank. The Nutribullet brand has an amazing range of products all of which are very dependable and will last you a good few years, although you might have to replace the extractor blade about once a year depending on how often you use it. It does not have all the bells and whistles that most machines offer but in turn, it is super easy to use and clean. The Nutribullet offers unparalleled power compared to any personal blender in its price range, it pulverises anything you put in its path, enabling you to make use of every piece of the fruit or vegetable you want to add to the smoothie.
I have recommended this machine to a lot of friends and family, and they are all incredibly happy with their Nutribullet. If you are a smoothie lover, this might just be the best purchase you ever make, always remember to take care of your appliances and they will give you many happy years! I hope you will enjoy the Nutribullet as much as I do!
