  • 800 grams Broccoli florets roughly chopped
  • 160 grams Onion finely chopped
  • 220 grams Stilton cheese
  • 1 Chicken or vegetable stock cube
  • 800 ml Water
  • 25 grams Salted butter
  • A pinch of pepper


  • Keep your onion and broccoli ready to add to your soup maker. Make sure your broccoli stalks and onions are chopped fairly small to ensure quicker cooking time. If you do not have fresh broccoli, you can use frozen florets. It will not affect the taste.
  • When preparing the vegetable stock, use boiling water. Add the cube and mix well until it dissolves.


  • Put the butter into the soup maker vessel and close the lid. Choose the ‘Sauté’ option and press ‘Start’. Add the onion carefully to the butter after one minute. ‘Sauté’ the mixture for another two minutes. Allow the onion to soften and evenly brown.
  • In case your soup maker does not have the sauté function, choose to brown your onion the old-fashioned way on the stove.
  • Once the onion has been browned, add the broccoli florets. Gently add the vegetable stock and fit the lid. Set the soup maker on the Smooth setting and allow it to work its magic.
  • Once the soup maker stops, check the soup for consistency. Take your Stilton cheese and crumble it over the soup. Give it a stir and allow it to melt. Add in the pepper as per your taste.
  • Remember, you are using salted butter and a stock cube. Do not add additional salt unless necessary.
