Soup Maker Parsnip Soup Recipe

Published by: Chef Matty Riedel • Updated: February 9, 2024

The recipe for preparing a creamy parsnip soup is simple and time efficient. You can easily cook it up on cold wintery evenings in your soup maker in less than an hour. You can keep it basic with simple ingredients or spice it up with some spices for an extra kick.

Personally, I love parsnips. I love their smell and love making parsnip soup whenever I get the chance. There is nothing like a nice bowl of fresh parsnip soup with lightly grated cheese on top for a light supper.

Preparing parsnip soup is easy. Depending on your tastes, you can keep it simple or add your own combinations for a delicious bowl of soup. Two of my favourite parsnip soup variations are the basic and the curried kind.

You can serve either with some warm bread for a quick supper.

The good thing about using the soup maker is that you can simply chop up your vegetable into small chunks, add them to the vessel along with your other ingredients and allow the appliance to do its work. It is as simple as that.

Let’s look at how to make a basic parsnip soup in the soup maker. You may want to adjust the recipe as per your soup maker’s capacity.

Equipment

Ingredients

  • 4 Medium parsnips chopped into 1 cm cubes
  • 100 ml Milk you can use skimmed milk as well
  • 300 ml Vegetable stock
  • 2 teaspoons Parsley
  • 3 cloves Garlic chopped finely
  • 2 tablespoon Butter
  • Salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper

Method

  • If your soup maker is blessed with the sauté function, then you can use it to sauté the finely chopped garlic in the butter before you move on to the actual soup-making function. This will lend your soup with lovely flavour.
  • You can substitute the butter with a fat of your choice as well. If you want to go for a healthier option, you can simply leave it out entirely.
  • Wash your parsnips and slice them up into 1 cm cubes. Add the chopped parsnips, vegetable stock and seasoning over your sautéed garlic. If you are not sautéing the garlic, simply add it along with the rest of the ingredients into the soup maker vessel.
  • Close the lid and turn the soup setting on. The cook time will vary depending on the soup maker. Usually, it is around 28 to 30 minutes.
  • Once the soup is done, mix in the milk and any additional seasoning as per your taste. If you want, you can add some grated cheese to the hot soup before you serve.
