FAQs

Is Soup Good In Winter?

Soup is a wonderful way to keep warm during the winter months while reducing your calorie intake and maintaining your nutrition.

If prepared properly with healthy ingredients such as vegetables, lentils, lean meats, etc., soup offers several health benefits. Soup can boost your immune system during the winter months, especially if you have been indoors for a long time.

What Is the Difference Between Chowder And Cullen Skink?

Cullen Skink is typically made from smoked fish and this gives it a smokier flavour compared to chowder.

What Part Of the Leek Is Used to Make Leek Soup?

Usually, just the light green and white parts of the leek are eaten. But the part of the leeks that is darker green has loads of flavour. You can use the dark green parts of leek to make soup.

How To Thicken Soup Using Cornflour?

You can add a tablespoon of cornflour or plain flour into a small bowl and stir it into 2 to 3 tablespoons of soup until you get a smooth mixture. Add this to the soup and stir it well. Bring the soup to a simmer.

Cooking the soup for a few minutes will cause the starch granules to burst and the soup to thicken and this will also help to cook out any of the corn flour flavour.

Some other ways of thickening soup are by adding yoghurt or cream, using a butter and flour paste or a beurre manié, adding rice or lentils or blending bread into the soup.

However, the method that you use to thicken the soup will mainly depend on the kind of soup you’re making.

Is Minestrone Soup Thin Or Thick?

Minestrone is a thick traditional Italian soup that is usually made with vegetables. Often, rice or pasta or sometimes both of these are added to the minestrone soup.

Minestrone soup also includes ingredients such as tomatoes, onions, beans, carrots, celery, leafy vegetables, stock and parmesan cheese.
