It’s a great snack and much easier than you’d imagine. Now that pizza dough is readily available in grocery stores. There isn’t much of a reason you can’t learn how to make pizza rolls and customise them how you want.
If you’re serving these at a get-together, make a bunch ahead of time and freeze them so you have to take them out of the freezer, let them stand a few minutes, and then bake them off. They stay moist and, like regular pizza, are as satisfying as leftovers.
Also, if you are looking for an easy recipe to get your kids interested in cooking, this one will be a hit. It’s easy; mention pizza, and they will all be in. See the Chef Tips section for a list of toppings kids love.

- 24 slices Pepperoni
- 200 grams Mozzarella, shredded

- Add the mushrooms and garlic cook until the mushrooms are soft and relatively dry.
- Cool the mushroom mixture completely.
- Unroll the pizza dough onto a cutting board.
- Spread the pizza sauce on the dough, leaving a 2 cm border on the top and bottom.
- Spread the mushroom mix and olives on the tomato sauce.
- Lay the pepperoni slices on top.
- Top with cheese.
- Roll the dough up into a long round roll.
- Slice into 1.5 cm pieces.
- Place the pieces on a greased sheet tray, cut side up.
- Sprinkle with the Italian herbs.
- Bake at 200-degrees for 17 minutes or until the pieces are brown and cooked through.
Chefs Tips
- These rolls can be made a few hours beforehand, but the dough will get soggy if made too far in advance.
- The pieces can be frozen individually (so they don’t stick together) and kept in bulk in the freezer for several weeks. To bake, let them thaw slightly and then bake at 180-degrees for about 20 minutes.
- These are a great snack with a cold beverage or a glass of red wine.
- Any leftover, cooked rolls can be reheated in the oven at 180 degrees for about 10 minutes.
- Cooking For Kids: Keep the Mushrooms and Pepperoni and leave out the Olives. Ham and Pineapple. Bacon and Egg. Sausages and Tomato. Ground Beef, Mushrooms and Bell Peppers. You can use anything your kids love.
